STEM Club is a gathering of students that meets regularly in a learning environment to work on inquiry-based Science, Technology, Engineering and Math projects.
STEM strives to offer students a learning environment to get hands-on experience in STEM fields, be it by constructing engineering projects, coding complex algorithms, or participating in exhilarating and meaningful icebreakers
- all with the goal of excelling in those fields.
Every year, STEM provides students opportunities to expand their knowledge and compete in a variety of projects and competitions from different organizations.
BGHS's STEM club participated in the annual MESA day competition, hosted by UCI's MESA program, where many of the 34 students who came placed in the top three for a competition. Three teams from Bolsa placed in first for their respective comepetition and are moving onto regionals! Congradulations to Bianca Le, Danny Pham, and Nhat Nguyen representing BGHS for Mesa Machine, Thao Do and Annebelle Le for Math Escape room, and Jonathan Le and James Huynh for the pilot competition, coding solutions!
STEM will be participating in the annual STEM on the Sideline Competition on December 8th. This competition requires students to build a functional device that can launch a football, which solely powered by an arduino board, along with various components in a given sandbox.
STEM Club is having our annual button fundraiser from October 28 to November 1. Our pins start at just 50 cents and come in two sizes: 1 inch and 2.25 inches. We also take custom designs and large club orders. Please tell your friends and family to help support STEM. If anyone is interested, you can contact any officer or advisor.
Bolsa Grande's STEM Club is leading the way for students to learn computer science with their ongoing program called Code B. The program teaches students how to code and design basic games. Code B gives aspiring computer science majors and engineers a chance to gain hands-on experience with coding.
