Overview
2018-2019 was a very eventful and exciting year for Bolsa Grande STEM. Members participated in many activities, such as the MESA day competition as well as various icebreakers. At the annual Mesa Day competition, three teams placed in the regional competition and one team made it all the way to the National competition.

Throughout 2018-2019, BGHS's STEM had many events. Here are a list of most of the events from that year.
Mesa Competition
Preliminary Teams
STEM continued to participate in the annual MESA Competition where they consistently placed top three in most of MESA projects.
Banquet
STEM's annual banquet at the end of the year was held at Teppanyaki Grill Supreme Buffet on June 1st, 2019
Boba Fundraiser
STEM hosted a boba fundraiser during this year for the club's growth and development, as well as for supplies for club members.
Achievements
2018-2019 was a very successful year for BGHS's STEM Club. STEM achieved great achievements during the Mesa Day competition. Some notable achievements are:
3rd Place NEDC State Competition- David Chuong, Minh Duong, Khanh Nguyen, and Huy Banh
- 2nd Place 9/10th Grade Prosthetic Arm Regional- Bianca Le, Tiffany Tran, Danny Pham
- 2nd Place MESA Machine Preliminary -Alex Davalos, William Tran, Dereck Bui
- 2nd Place 9/10th Grade Wright Turn Glider Preliminary - Thomas To, Kevin Mach
- 3rd Place Think Tank Preliminary - Hector Flores, Joaquin Lopez, Ryan Do
Officers
David Chuong
David held the position of President during this year. He was a Senior at the time and had been in STEM for his entire highschool career. He participated in NEDC for three years where he made it to Regionals, State, and even National competitions.
Hector Flores
Hector held the position of Vice President as a Junior during this year. He has been in STEM from the very beginning of his highschool career and hopes to become an aerospace engineer.
Minh Duong
Minh held the position of Treasurer during this year. He was a sophomore at the time and had also been in STEM in his freshmen year. He is interested in pursing computer science and loves to apply the tools he builds to help others.
Hubert Tran
Hubert held the position of Activities Chair during this year. He was a senior at the time and was is one of the most experienced on the board that year, having served as an officer for multiple years.
Huy Banh
Huy held the position of Activities Chair during this year. He was a senior at the time and is known for his impressive accomplishments in the Wright Turn Glider competition.
Evan Botros
Evan held the position of Activities Chair during 2018-2019. He was a junior at the time and had been in STEM for three years. He is described by his peers as more serious and hardworking, but can work well in a team.
Alex Davalos
Alex held the position of Activities Chair during this year. He was a senior at the time and was personally invited into the club as an officer by the advisor. He is known by his peers as outgoing, dedicated, funny, and smart.
Joaquin Lopez
Joaquin held the position of Secretary as a senior during this year. He has been in STEM for four years and hopes to complete his Bachelors degree in history.
