2016-2017 was a very exciting year for STEM Club at Bolsa Grande. Many of the STEM members participated in variety of events, such as the MESA Day competition, coding competitions as well as various icebreakers. At the annual MESA Day competition, many Bolsa STEM Teams had placed in top three at Prelims as well as Regionals. Not only that, several outstanding STEM members participated in a hackathon and Congressional App competition, events that challenge students' ability to code and construct products that are applicable in the real world.


Events

2016-2017 year is known for its variety in events and projects. Here is a list of some of the notable events from thatyear:

Congressional App Challenge

This competition is designed to challenge students to create their original, and functional app with the use of many programming languages.

Hackathon
Los Angeles Hackathon

The LA Hackathon competition is an event where computer programmers come together and make a focused effort to perfect a given software product. It involves coding almost continuously for extended periods of time.

NEDC
MESA National Engineering Design Competition

In this competition, engineers are required to work in a team to implement a Human-Centered Design to address a need. There are many components listed, but the main ones are the successful intergration of Arduino, and a report to provide an overview of the design process

2016-2017 was a successful year for STEM Club, as a large number of Bolsa teams took the top three in Prelim and Regional competitions

Officers

Steven Dang
President

Steven held the position of President during this year. He was a Senior at the time and was one of the most experienced on the board that year, with STEM being his club for his entire highschool career.

Huy Pham
Vice-President

Huy held the position of Treasurer during this year. He was a Senior at the time and was one of the most experienced on the board that year, with STEM being his club for his entire highschool career.

Hien-Duc Ma
Treasurer

Hien-Duc held the position of Treasurer during this year. She was a Senior at the time and was one of the most experienced on the board that year, with STEM being her club for her entire highschool career.

Joanne Duong
Secretary

Joanne held the position of Secretary during this year. She was a Junior at the time and was one of the most experienced on the board that year, and had been in STEM for three years in prior.

Hubert Tran
Activity Chair

Hubert held the position of Activities Chair during this year. He was a Sophomore at the time and was is one of the most experienced on the board that year, having served as an officer for multiple years.

Huy Banh
Activity Chair

Huy held the position of Activities Chair during this year. He was a Sophomore at the time and is known for his impressive accomplishments in the Wright Turn Glider competition.
